I don''t exactly understand why we let people login anonymously... It bugs me when people hide behind a fascade esp when saying something that is demeaning or insulting...Basic registration is free anyways, so they shouldn''t have any problem registering even if it''s just a nickname. Just a thought

i''ve seen alot of anon posts that were ''mean'' yet held alot of
truth. it would appear that it''s human nature to want anonymity
when speaking such harsh truths (for fear of backlash i''d imagine).
when anon posters talk shit, they end up getting flamed anyway,
so whats the problem?

Anon posters are a double-edged blade around here. Many times you can find them offering up very good advice or suggestions, other times you can find them speaking harsh truths as eldee pointed out, and other times you can find them just crapping up the board and causing general mayhem. Okay that''s like a triple-edge but whatever. The point is (haha, point - get it? Point? Oh never mind) that the mods have discussed this a heck of a lot, beleive me, and we''ve come up with a lot of ideas to be implemented in the up and coming new forums that will reduce the amount of anon posters posting nothing but crap and bad stuff.

i think you should post a partial hostmask, so we can
at least sense a pattern in the anons who crap up the board..
ie *!*@*-ipt.aol.com
or somethin

yeah well we don't want the general public to know who anon posters are, otherwise a flamewar started here could easily spill over to a whole lotta people flaming this guy through IP hacks and emails and all that. That would take the flamewar out of our immediate control and just generally make life even more difficult when dealing with those situations.

Rest assured, however, that we can determine who posts anonymously. For instance I could give you the name of the Anon poster above if i wanted to. But he just implicated himself so I'll resist So we can stop Anon posters by emailing them and warning them of IP blocks and whatnot.

It can be a lot of extra work having them around, but like I said, we've come up with a lot of ideas for the new forums that will make handling abusive Anons so much easier.

If you ever have a question like that you simply click on the "edit" button for the post and check out the code yourself. You''d be amazed at how much you can learn this way

I too have had my fair share of anon poster problems.
I am glad to see that these problems may be resolved.
