Quick Compatability Question

I''m wondering about compatability when making programs with directx. Assuming computers have DirectX installed and have decent video cards, would a program (a game made using DirectX) built under WindowsXP run on Win9X? Im assuming it will run on Win2K, and also I''d like to add that the program doesn''t do any sort of things like Editing the registry or anything that may only be available in XP/Win2K.

Yes, as long as you don''t use any NT-specific API calls.
