I am in my second year of university, studying computer science, next year I will have the oppurtunity to have an industrial placement at the company of my choice. I am extremely eager to carry out this placement at a game developer within the UK. I was wondering if anybody has managed to do this, and if so where and do you have any tips for seeking out a placement with a games development company. Bearing in mind my current level of complexity, i.e. one of the more complex assignments to date was to use UML to design a vending machine.

afaik, Lionhead and bizarre creations (i'm sure you can figure out their websites) do placements, although they tend to be fully booked for a good few years ahead.

you might want to try psygnosis. i tried getting work experience there a few years ago and they said that they didn't do 2 week work expeience, only "proper" placements.
