I am writing my first 3D game, with Graham (yes, thats his gamedev username). Right now we need to make a map file format and a loader. If anyone knows a site with a tutorial/example please post it here. Thank you.

I know its vague, but i just wanted to see an example to get an idea of how other people have done it. I want my maps to be either (a):
1. a model file for graphical data (a 3D model of what the user will actually see)
2. a model file for collision data (where walls are, not rendered)
or (b):
one file that contains all of this data.

Once I have this I can work out how I will implement weapon and power up locations, spawn points, etc.

Well, I did come up with a helpful reply, but there was a server error, and then my browser lost it when I pressed the "back" button. Basically, I said use BSP trees (assuming your map is indoor, static and not too large), and I pointed you at the bsp faq and the gdnet articles section.
