Okay. I''m doing this report on Hell because I am forced to go to a private school and they have us each doing one religious topic as a report. Anyway, since many of you seem to have such interesting prospects about life, maybe you could share with me your prospects about the afterlife.
Please excuse me now while I get the kick the sh*t out of this f**kin monitor.

I''d recommend reading The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. That''s one idea of hell. And it''s a really cool book...

(But it might be hard to read for some people, since it''s written in the 13th century, and the language isn''t exactly like we''re used to.)

You might want to peek at Revelations (last book in the Bible).

Hell wasn''t part of the first of the Jewish Religions, it was a Pagan Roman intergration. Hell doesn''t exist.

The Devil has black hair and a goatee. He has a waistcoat with a watch chain. He wears a long black overcoat. That''s always how I have imagined him. If I believed in him, of course. I don''t believe in God, so I can''t believe in the Devil either, can I?

I agree.

But this post is a soon-to-be religous flame war.

As a metaphysical reality Hell is a highly suspect proposition.

Another book to examine is "Paradise Lost" by John Milton. Most of the popular Western notions regarding hell can be found in that book. The book is about the fall of Lucifer, his battles with God and the battles among the angels. Very gothic stuff. Also written several hundred years ago.

It won''t take much looking to find hell - there''s probably some to be found right down the block from your house. Don''t expect fire and brimstone - the reality of hell is much more mundane.

Isn''t it Comediea? or is that just purnouncation?

Yep, this is pretty much what the majority of modern versions of hell are made as....minus the freezing part. (yep, hell already is frozen over!)

The movie what dreams may come is based on this, except they only go down to the 7th level (lair of the harpies).

I don''t believe in hell (eternal punishment for temporary sins...no thanks, I''ll worship some other god), but if I did, this would be my views.

Another view of hell is that everyone goes to hell which is the grave. The first resurrection takes you to judgement where all are are tossed into the lake of fire but only the forgiven don''t burn to a crisp (like the three men in the firey furnace). The unforgiven turn to ashes and are never heard of again.

So the destruction is eternal as you''ll never exist again but the actual punishment lasts only for a moment.

An interesting view but not one I entirely accept yet.

Ben
