I am having difficulties getting the samples from the DirectX SDk to compile. I open the given projects but compiling fails with the error below. The error is in the D3DApp.cpp file. This is an MS provided file. I am using Windows 2000 pro, is there something special that I need to do to get this work? error C2664: ''DialogBoxParamA'' : cannot convert parameter 4 from ''long (struct HWND__ *,unsigned int, unsigned int, long)'' to ''int (__stdcall *)(struct HWND__ *,unsigned int, unsigned int, long)'' None of the functions with this name in scope match the target type

thanks! I got it to compile.

now I have a new problem.

does anyone know why the program freezes and causes the cpu usage to go to 100 percent?

Well, could be for a hundred reasons but I would guess that you probably have gone into an endless loop.
