I''m having trouble with Borland C++ Builder. I have a D3D app, but it won''t build. It compiles fine, but the linker returns an error saying that it cant find the "Direct3DCreate8" external anybody know what''s wrong? I know lots of you are going to say Borland, but hey, I like it better than MSVC++ and I really don''t want to dish out another couple hundred bucks just so I can have both.

OK here we go. You need to include d3d8.lib, d3dx8.lib and dxguid.lib in your project. HOWEVER the lib files provided by Microsoft are in COFF format and Borland uses OMF. You NEED to use implib to create your own lib files - eg:

implib d3d8.dll d3d8.lib (i think)

You only need to do it once.

There is nothing wrong wth Borland''s compilers. I have MSVC++ 5 and th beta of the new MSVS.NET and neither are a patch on C++Builder for writing ANSI standard C++ code. Don''t let anyone tell you it''s wrong.

Thanks! That did the trick. I read about it on Borlands site too, but I was having trouble finding the correct usage. Thanks a bunch.
