I know this is a vague question, but I am hoping to find a simple fix. My program runs great under Windows 95, and Windows 98 with DirectX 8.1 installed (off of microsoft.com). However when I try to run the game under WindowsXP, my mouse gives a brief busy signal and then does nothing. I tried fiddling with the compatablity wizard with no avail. I also heard that WinXP does not like you messing around with the windows style so I got rid of that, no avail. I use DirectDraw7, DirectInput8, and DirectMusic8 in the app, it runs windowed and fullscreen (user can switch) but it starts in a window. If anyone can point me in a direction with this I would be very grateful. Thanks, Eyez

Some independent research i have conducted on DirectX 8.1 in WinXP yields the following:

WinXP/DirectX 8.1 deals in an extremely ''clunk'' fashion with some graphics cards/drivers. THe only cards I have confirmed this on are the GeForce2 Mx series. I have heard similar reports from people who have other GeForce2 GPUs. nVidia has released no fixes. Is your system config looking like this?
