All right, I had to ask How many of you are participating in the new contest? Not to many people that hang out in #gamedev seem too interested, but I think this one rocks! So, am I the only one? rm -rf /bin/laden

I''ve had at least a half-dozen people email me with questions about it, so I think I can safely say that you''re not the only one.

I''m just waiting for monkeyman to annouce that he''ll be making his breast-slapping game as an entry

I''m interested in the contest but I have no time.

I''m probably going to enter, I''m just trying to figure out what to make without having to get too math heavy. (Hey, I''m lazy!)

If you can make a physics program without getting too math heavy, I think you should win simply on principle!

Always remember, you''''re unique. Just like everyone else.

The prize for this contest seems somewhat odd...Write the best physics code and you win a book... on how to write physics code?

However, that''s not a big deal..That sort of stuff seems to exist in many online/computer contests (eg. write the best GF3 pixel shader -- win a GF3!).

Yeah, you should give it to the one who has written the WORST code!

I plan on entering, but whether or not I get time to work on it is another thing.

Question: Just how much physics needs to be in an entry? Would a falling object count?

I''ve already started (kinda). My entery is kinda weak though.
It''s the best easy thing I could come up with, I too am running short in the time dept.

I already have the book though, so it''s ok that I wont win.

Yeah, it would count, but unless it''s one of three entries, you''re not gonna win anything

Hopefully I will have enough time to get an entry in. In the mean time I have final exams. Ack!

Hmm, I think I''ve noticed a trend... Most of you that say "I''ll do this if I have time" are wasting all of your precious time in here! Get busy, guys!!!

On second thought, don''t participate, that way I can win

I never even knew about it until you posted. Afterwhich I thought, Hey, I could troll the contest and put a program that takes a name of a hydrocarbon, or hydrocarbon derivative, and draw it on the screen, but I noticed a trend of people not realising when I am being sarcastic (I am pretty sure "Watching pigs fly would be nice too" was a major clue in one thread) so I decided against it.

I think I might enter a Bang! Bang! clone written in SDL, but I would need somebody to compile it for windows, and I am not sure if the judges computers will even have the runtime DLL for SDL (!>_<!).

Just so that some people know what I am doing, cause I will prolly be too busy forum whoring to do it, Bang! Bang! is a game where you have two cannons, one for each player. You specify the angle and the amount of force you want, trying to hit the other player.
