Is it possible to sell your idea to a company? Or do you have to be a part of a company before you can even say, look heres what would be revolutionary. I have 2 VERY VERY good game idea''s. Their not just run of the mill hacks, they are good solid games that are origional and imho very fun. Do I have to program a proof of concept or something or will a good description and some artwork due?
Companies don''t buy ideas. Heck, most of them won''t even bother to even "consider" taking a look at free ideas.

So yes, you will need to atleast program a demo of the game or get into the company before they would even consider about buying your idea.

There are so many good ideas on the world, Bill Gates couldn''t possibly buy 10% of them with all his money. I, for instance, have already about 10 great ideas for (IMO) great games...

I would be a millionaire if I could sell my ideas...

No, you can''t sell them. At least, not unless the idea is so super-revolting-perfect-unbeatable-totally original... something not one idea is I think...

Ideas are a dime a dozen and everyone has them, sorry. Much like a half finished game has no market value (besides assets...), an idea that hasn''t been made into a game is worthless. If you really want your ideas to come true you either have to program them yourself, or be on a team that will consider some of your ideas as a proposal.

Game companies are never short of ideas, they are always short of talented developers to finish projects. If you want your ideas to become reality in the professional game development world, you have to start off working on other people''s projects. Only through working your way up the ladder will you receive seniority, and the ability to leverage your ideas to a team.

Good luck.

In other words - produce your proof of concept. That might get you considered. More likely though, you''ll have to have a nearly complete product before they''ll do anything with it.
