How to time an animation using directdraw? Should I relay on FPS? I''ve seen demos that are faster depending of the screen refresh rate and found it very useless! Please help me Last of The Returners

No dont use frame based timing it sucks.....
I use the 64bit performance timer to measure the time elapsed betwine each frame. You then update everything based on that time value.
Use this functions:

QueryPerformanceFrequency( &qwFrequency )
QueryPerformanceCounter( &qwNewCount );

There is a timefunction in DXSDK example files i think it is in dxutil.h / dxutil.cpp
look it up look how they done it.
