Hi, I am working on an OpenGL game. I am mainly working on it on my home computer which has Win98 as OS. Now I copied the whole stuff to my Dads Laptop using W2K and my frame rates dropped from about 80 to 10. The mouse cursor was also permanently flickering so I called HideCursor(false); From then on my frame rates were at about 40 which is a proper rate regarding the hardware. However each time I turn the cursor back on, the frame rates drop down dramatically. Why???

does the cursor have a shadow?
turn disabling cursor hardware acceleration (if possible)

The cursor behaves perfectly normal (i.e. no shadow).

I think he means something else. In Win2K you can have the cursor have a nice little soft shadow under it, it''s useless and eats up resources but it''s ok as far as eye-candy goes. You can turn it off in Control Panel->Mouse->Pointers->Enable Shadow. It might fix your problems.
