I see a lot of questions around about octtrees and I figure I''ll put that into my current engine. I''m hoping to make it more generalized (indoor, outdoor, app viewer) and so octrees seem like a good general solution. Now the questions: 1. Let''s say that I have an indoor level that is being partitioned by the octree, should I split the polygons or just maintain what nodes a polygon are in and make sure not to draw twice? What are the bonuses/drawbacks of each? I hear people talking about both methods so I had to ask.... 2. Which spelling is correct, octree or octtree? Why? 3. Any good links to an octree tutorial?

I think you''ll want to split your polys. The added polys will not cost more than checking for polys rendered once for every frame.

Never done it, so I may be wrong, but I think splitting will be easiest and fastest.

^^^ I agree - but I''m no expert.

The best thing about the internet is the way people with no experience or qualifications can pretend to be completely superior to other people who have no experience or qualifications.
