Help with .X

Original Post
Ok, I''m looking for a (very) generous person to help me with a converison problem im having. I have a mesh in 3d studio max 4 and i just can''t get it to work after I convert it to X.
I was hoping someone who has done this a lot could take a look at my 3dsmax mesh and tell me what im doing wrong.
Please help, thanks.
I have looked at the readmes and msdn. i got the db8 extras, i tried the 3dsmax plugin it comes with, and i also tried saving it as 3ds and using conv3ds. neither worked. Worked meaning, it doesn''t show up at all or the scaling/texturing is all screwed up.
That link does look promising, ill check it out. But could someone still look at it?

Ok, I followed that tutorial exactly and I''m still getting the same results. Messed up texturing. Both the Mesh viewer and my code get some funky output.
A few questions, I know the converters are buggy and all, so which is best...
1) text vs binary format on dx exporter
2) dxexporter vs conv3ds
3) image types for the textures?

Well, I haven''t tried the 3ds Max plugins but conv3ds works fine for me. As for the scaling and texturing problems, have you tried using the different options in conv3ds? You can find their descriptions in the conv3ds.txt. You should try out all of them or maybe different combinations to see if it works.
Text format .x files are larger but they let you see what they contain, allowing you to view them with notepad. You can even modify them this way but you should probably know about their structures etc. so that you don''t mess things up.
Hope that helped.

Export as text, then open in notepad. find the materials/textures then remove the full path to the texture leaving only the file name. eg:
"c:\\models\\textures\\banana.bmp"
becomes
"banana.bmp"
do this for each texture used.
The problem I have had has been that my bones are rendered and animated while my textured model sits still...
If they''re called waiters, why do _I_ have to wait on _them_?
