GetAsyncKeyState is not as fast as DirectInput. Is there any other way to read keyboard and mouse states? Thanks.

GetAsyncKeyState() is Windows specific and so is DInput. I conclude that you aim Win platforms - so why don''t you use DInput in a first place?
As an alternative, you could read out the keyboard buffer directly. Under Windows, this can only be done with Ring 0 priviledges, i.e. with a vxd. I don''t think you want to write a vxd, do you?

Or did I misunderstand your question?

Erm... You mean a way exluding DInput and GetAsyncKeyState()?

Well, there is "GetKeyState()" for a start The only thing I can think of is using the message queue in windows which is far far slower.

Death of one is a tragedy, death of a million is just a statistic.
If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.
