I would like to know if the extension wgl can provide a fast way to write in the z-buffer by creating a pbuffer and then binding the pbuffer to the z-buffer. There are few notes and there aren''t any examples on the internet concerning PBuffers. thank you, Yannick Le Goc

You can render a depth buffer in a pbuffer, but AFAIK you can''t directly bind it back to replace the main zbuffer. You''ll have to copy it back in a seperate call (which is rather fast since the data stays on the 3D card).

Another alternative is to use a depth texture, this gives you a second read-only depth buffer. You can directly bind it from the pbuffer. Can be very usefull (eg. for order independent transparency, no sorting anymore), but that depends on your specific application.

More info at nVidia''s site.
