I remember from the old Meltdowns, intel had a graphics performance analyzer called IPeak (this would analyze all aspects of your apps gfx calls, including over draw, etc). However, this seems to have been removed from Intels product list. 1) Do you know what happened to IPeak ? 2) Are there any other good alternatives ? Ta in advance.

If you are (or can be) a registered developer with nVidia then they have some good analysis tools (nVTune and a special version of the device driver that tracks additional stats for you).

I''m afraid I don''t know of any publicly available ones.

There's been some discussions about this amongst some in the DirectX dev community recently...

...MS are considering releasing something similar for the next version of DX (they're still determining if there is developer interest, but so far it seems like a lot of people are interested).

Other alternatives ? apart from working with the nVidia (or chosen IHV) profiling tools and VTune:

GRAZ by Herb Marselas at Ensemble Studios:

[Trivia: Herb wrote the original IPEAK GPT when he worked at Intel!]

DLL Detective by Adam Moravanszky:

As for what happened to IPEAK GPT it was discontinued (soon after we bought a copy we started moving our stuff to DX8 hoping for an upgrade, then they sent us an e-mail mentioning its death).

You can get NVTune for free, it''s part of the NVSDK available at developer.nvidia.com However, as I''ve posted in this forum before, I have no idea how to use it, and I have yet to find a doc about it.

Only if you''re a registered developer, and it''s not part of the sdk(which doesn''t require you to be a registered developer).
