So I''m watching a music video countdown--well, not really a countdown--on MTV2 of the most controversial music videos. Then I see "Closer" by N.I.N. It''s only about 9pm and they didn''t bleep the swearing or nudity. Then a little later I see "Smack My Bitch Up" by Prodigy and it has full nudity of a woman and it just about shows her having sex; it just doesn''t show the other person. Am I correct in saying that after a certain time, all censoring is optional?

yes. Most censoring is at the networks discretion as long as they post a warning. The word "fuck" among others is okay on radio now pretty much any time but many stations avoid using it to cater to the audience.

FYI, they do show the other person in the prodigy video...the person who we are looking "out" of all night, who gets drunk, gets high and has sex with that woman, looks in a mirror before she passes out. Rather well cosntructed video, if you think about it.
As far as censoring goes, when that video first came out, they only showed it once, at 3 in the morning, with an explicit warning before hand. even this was too much for all the parents out there, and they took it completely out of rotation for a long time.
And I like NIN''s videos as well. If you want to be grossed out, watch the entire, unreleased Broken video..its basically a video tot eh whole album.

I know, but I meant that they didn''t show the other person while they did it.
