Hey I''m a newbie to all this. I just learned C++, and I don''t really know what API I''ll use, but I''ll probably use DirectX. Anyhow is there a version of it to use for NT 4.0? And is it possible to make Xbox games with it? and if you can how? thanx for the help!
So what if I'm 13, I can still code better than like 95% of Americans, and probably 99.9% of the people in the world. Whoa, I feel proud.

Actually, I would recommend picking up a good DirectX 8 book and start with that. As a baby programmer (only knew a little C++) I jumped into DirectX with both feet and kept my head above water the whole time. 6 months later, I''ve got a complete working game engine that I wrote from scratch that has everything from bump-mapping to Force Feedback. And I only picked at it in my spare time. Perhaps I''ve just got a natural affinity to all this (yeah, I''m a big geek), but if you''ve got the willpower, you can learn DirectX in no time at all. But don''t think it''s gonna be easy and that you''ll be a master game programmer in 6 months or even 2 years. But DirectX is relatively easy to learn and the SDK documentation is pretty good. Again, I would start with a good DirectX 8 book and go from there. Good luck.
