This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My signature, without me, is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.

Why we really need more "Donut abuse resistance education" instead. Who on earth comes up with this? I mean, this makes drugs look good. Think about it :

Hollywood - Waaaay to much drugs.
Dare - No drugs.

Hollywood - Brilliant at it''s best, at least professional at worst
Dare - Retro Bill.

Really, people. This should worry you. They should make the cops get real jobs, and create more drug treatment centers. Maybe someone should look into the idea of restarting the war on poverty?

Oh, well. I give up.

I bet they found that guy in Hollywood, smoking crack on the street no doubt, that''s how he keeps his hair up and his head shaped like a football, not to mention that clown smile. Has anyone noticed that "Retro Bill" resembles Doonesbury''s "Mr. Butts"?

I''m so glad that DARE crap didn''t start until after I graduated from high school...

Actually, I think the real reason that DARE doesn''t work is because drugs are illegal. Why do you think so many kids want to do them? It''s just the allure of doing something you''re not supposed to, in most cases. I mean, from things like DARE and health class, you learn what all kinds of drugs can do to you, and yet, lots of people go ahead and do them anyway. If drugs were legal, DARE might work a bit better...

Maybe kids want to do drugs because they think drugs will make them feel better, make them laugh, make them energetic, give them an altered sense of perception, numb them to emotional pain. Hmm, maybe they want to do them for the same reasons adults do? I think you make a good point though. Criminalizing drugs drives them underground and adds an extra layer of interference in talking about them and confronting the myriad of issues they raise. In contrast, campaigns against cigarette smoking seem to have worked. IMO, DARE operates on a similar level as abstinence based sex ed, well meaning, good intentioned, and out of touch with reality eg. "Retro Bill".

Oh, and looking at my calendar, from today''s date I see that a DARE topic is right on the mark

"tobacco is wacko"

That''s the 2nd time I ever heard the word wacko (wacko was a character in loony toones). Try "tobacco is wack yo".

Absolutely, propoganda lying scare tactics have been shown to have a very short term effect on people, even children.

Looking at a slightly differnet demographic, we can see that many kids drop out of school to sell drugs, because they can make $100 bucks a day. They would not be able to do this were drugs legal.
