I was thinking about making a fighting game...I am wondering: In your opinion, do you think a fighting game should have a score? I know a lot of older ones had a score, but most newer fighting games do not. What do you guys think? Break;

Typically, of course, the result of fighting games is either a win or a loss, and that ultimately is all that matters the most.

But, I can see where the occasional special score emerging from a special move might promote the desire to pull off those moves, especially multiple hit combos.

Some people might want it, others not. To those that don't want it, it doesn't get in the way.

A healthy humility and more realistic approach towards what you know comes from realizing what other people know, too.

It's not what you're taught, it's what you learn.

high scores are bragging rights!
you can achieve a similar effect with "number of wins"
but any lame ass can play 100 games and get 100 wins against
the cpu.. high scores are based on one game, one fight, one kick
ass match.
like waverider said though, it doesnt hurt the people who dont
like high scores though.
if you want to add a little twist on high scores, you could have an
option of viewing the battle''s replay.. or at least a series of
highlights based on the super huge combos or whatnot.
that''d be pretty sweet..
anyway, thats just my two hundreths of a dollar.
