Such as... Mozilla Internet Explorer Netscape Navigator Opera and... Gnutella Grokster Kazaa and... Whatever you can think of that you like or despise, that I have left out, or is another category altogether... What are your favorites? Which ones really do the trick? Which ones are the most horrendous things to have ever graced your desktop? And so on.

All I use is Internet Explorer and it works beautifully. It has all the features I need, and does what I want to do: be online.

Gnutella sucks. Ineffecient. Slow. Downloads never work. Etc.

Kazaa = Works alright, but has spyware.

Morpheus = Basically just a gnutella client now, and probably the worst one ever.

I use LimeWire, Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger, Download Accelerator Pro(doesn''t accelerate d''load, but isn''t denied by some download sites, like gozilla is), and mIRC, all for their obvious uses

Worst programs to ''grace'' my desktop...

ICQ 2000beta (its too fat) and
Netscape Navigator(i have no idea why i even installed it, but its gone now )

I use Internet Explorer for browsing websites, which probably includes GDNet as 60% of its usage. I use Windows messenger for wasting time talking to people from school who have found some new flash website, are moaning about something, or just want to use some acronyms (seriously, some of them seem to talk in a code; "FYI I am gonna 2 c it 2moz"), I use KaZaa-lite for downloading MP3s and music videos. Last but not least I use mIRC.... for chat.

I have had Netscape 6, Netscape navigator and Opera, back when I first got a PC and decided I wanted to be a "web-designer" when I grow up (something which changed when I discovered photoshop was hard and Java-script seemed easy) anyway, all those browsers seemed crap compared to IE, mostly probably because I never bothered to change them to my default web-browser.

Edit: How could one forget mIRC?

Mozilla - web, email, news, chat client all in one. Nowhere near as bloated as Netscape 6, more easily configurable than IE.

The Sygate firewall is pretty handy - monitors outbound as well as inbound connections. FTP Commander is a fairly good free ftp client. AnalogX has a few handy tools. Super Scanner is a fairly good port scanner. There are a couple of useful tools at sysinternals.com as well. And pc-mag released a site snagger tool back in ''98 that works pretty well for leeching sites - good for downloading online books for offline reading and referencing.

My favorite would be Total Instant Messenger because it is the best thing out there! It''s so cool and easy to use! It''s better than AOL!

Is this the TIM? Did you know that you will be competing with my more feature rich alternative?

though I''m a strong believer of the free code but still nothing beats the Internet Explorer when it comes to browsing. I''ve also got Opera and NC4.7/6 on my desktop, but that is mostly needed to see if the websites I develop are compatible everywhere, I never use them for any browsing, etc...

Plus, I like audiogalaxy (despite the fact the threat of vx2 like spyware that comes with it).

I use Internet Explorer for browsing the Web. It works well for me, so I haven''t seen a need to try anything else.

For file-sharing programs, I use Audio Galaxy and WinMX. Audio Galaxy supplies me with more obscure songs, but I like to use WinMX when I can because it has a better interface.

For e-mail I use Tera Term (supplied free by the University of Washington) because it''s fast. But if I need to write more elaborate e-mail messages, I will use Outlook.

Internet Explorer 6 is buggy as hell, and it''s seriously unstable. I''ve used it both on 98 and 2K. Personally I like mozilla a lot. They''ve finally done something about the HTML design flaw which allows pop-up windows (ie, you can turn them off). Tabbed browsing is a very nice also.

I still use Outlook Express for email, despite the fact that it''s one big stinking security hole. I don''t use mozilla because I don''t see why my email program should be integrated with my browser.

Internet Explorer for browsing
Winamp for listening to music
Gnucleus for getting music
Trillion for ICQ and sometimes AIM
but usually AIM for AIM
Solitaire for some elite gaming

WOW!!
Total Instant Messenger Is a GREAT peice of software! I''m ditching all those old crap programs to get The Whole Package!

Its got tons of original features and even more to come! I''d even go as far as to say that it was THE BEST PRODUCT EVER MADE.

Dont just take my word for it! Try it out! They''ll even send you a cd in the mail with 1000 free hours! Or you can download it and have infinite free hours! And when your time runs out you get Infinite hours free!

I cant wait till the latest version comes out! It''ll be GREAT!

Kazaa

Is it good, bad, wonderful, a bad habit, obnoxious, not as good as it could be? What''s the story?
