I have the gotten the NVSDK to check out the effects and stuff, and I have a fairly decent graphics card, a GF2MX400, but almost 3/4 of the demos in the effects browser are grayed out and disabled, I really want to look at those effects even if they would run slowly on my computer, is there any way I can enable those effects to look at them? Some of the effects I cant understand why they would be discabled becuase they are fairly simple like "simple fog" , "explosions" and even "particle system". If you have encountered this problem please let me know if and how you fixed it, Thanks Alot Rickwi22

All of the effects which use pixel shaders won''t work on your graphics card - and those with vertex shaders need to be run in software vertex processing mode.

As for being able to run them albeit very slowly - get the DirectX 8 SDK - with that you''ll get the "reference rasteriser" which is a software rasteriser intended for testing features you don''t have hardware for. This is only intended for development *not* as a releaseable software rasteriser (which many people wrongly assume) which is why it''s only available in the DirectX SDK.

I have the DX8 sdk, and have messed with pixel shaders in REF, but the NVSDK doesnt even give me an option to use REF.

Admittedly I have an older version of the NVEffectsBrowser, but take a look at the File menu when it starts up, the first three items I get are:

Hardware Device
Reference Device
Force Software Vertex Processing

works fine for me - tested on 3 machines. Ensure that the DirectX SDK is set to DEBUG mode in the control panel before trying the ref device.
