I''m surprised no one has done this yet...but I wanted opinions on this game. Personally I''m addicted, it''s taking over my life. I''ve put well over 30-40 hours into it now and feel like I''m only halfway through, but I don''t know for sure. The only really big complaint I have is that certain cities are massively confusing(read: Vivec) and selling high price items(5k+) is a pain in the arse. Comments? Complaints? Questions? If it''s Morrowind, I want it in this thread. -Ryan "Run_The_Shadows" -Run_The_Shadows@excite.com -"The best way to make someone feel pain at your words is to either tell the truth, and make it sound horrid; or to tell a lie that reflects their own personal fears and resentments of themselves."

i bought it shortly after it came out, but i haven''t really played enough of it to get into it. I''ve played for maybe a total of 30 mins. I just find the place so damn confusing and huge. I"m sure i''ll get a chance to dig deeper into it, but i''m just having too much fun playing Dungeon Siege on my LAN

I know the Dungeon Siege loving. My brother and I played through both worlds over our LAN before we got bored with it.

I beat the game in about a week. Morrowind is great, but it gets really easy unless you specifically try to gimp your character. Not-really-a-spoiler: I took out the person in the last fight without really getting hurt ; I don''t want to give away how the fight works or the name of the person it''s against, because it might give away the plot some. By far the best part of Morrowind, in my opinion, was all of the literature that''s there for you to read. You can figure out a lot before you''re meant to just by book-hunting in Dwemer (Dwarven) ruins and such.

For people thinking about buying it: it''s hard to get Morrowind running at a good speed on most systems (or at all!). My machine (Geforce3 Ti200 64MB, Athlon 1200 Mhz, 256 MB) ran it decently, and was performance problem free for the most part. The RAM is very important, 256MB is a minimum, and no less than 32MB of VRAM will do. The video card is somewhat important. Lowering the fillrate requirement doesn''t seem to help the speed of the game (it must always run in 32bit, there''s no way to set it to 16bit). Also, install the No-CD dealie, it helps some. The game is also _very_ unstable (even without the No-CD dealie, which didn''t seem to hurt the stability any more), but a patch is in the works. I''ve never seen Win2K go down so many times a day (probably up to 20 sometimes!), but it mostly just drops you to the desktop. The physics are broken too (you get stuck in walls), but there''s a console command to fix that (fixme, or tcl if you must). Except for all of that, I _still_ recommend the game.

I played Morrowind around my mate''s from saturday afternoon, until the first rays of sunday''s light poured through the slatted blinds - 5am.

I found the game to be greatly enjoyable, something that I didn''t do was bother getting into the main quest - do you have to deliver the package to start that?

Anyway, my major criticism is with the thieving. I saw some Orcish armour on the floor of a shop - seeing as the git wouldn''t sell it to me, I decided to steal the armour, jump over the shop counter and out of the shop - There was a guard in the shop with me, I got caught once by a guard, the price on my head was 3600, which I didn''t want to pay, I resisted and ran away. When I came back I got caught again and went to jail, it took *every* item on me that was stolen from around the map, including my rings and amulets that spawned little combat buddies. Screw this - I reloaded my quick-load and went back. In the end I had to put my items in a house, go outside, get nicked and go to prison. Fun! I wish there was some other way you could clear the debt off your head, like the spraypaint garage in GTA.

I found the game was ''non-linear'', which is seemingly all the rage at the moment, but it wasn''t broad. What you did was what you did - steal stuff, kill stuff and complete the quests.

Garconbifteck: join the thief''s guild. One of its locations is in the South Wall corner club in Balmora. Talk to the guy behind the bar downstairs. He''s a forgery expert and, for a price (about 1/2 the bounty), can remove the price on your head. My tip: never get caught, it''s much easier, and it''s what I did with my thief character.

Hasn''t been released here yet... but I know I will love it, and have got my copy reserved already... In fact, it is the reason I am actually getting an upgrade! WOOT!

Considering how low my specs are, the game runs surprisingly smooth, even when compared to big buff sexy computers. On average, in huge towns like Balmora or Vos, I''m getting about 15 - 20fps, and out in the open, around 35 - 40 fps. Not bad, I suppose! My specs:

Pentium 3 600mhz
GeForce 2 MX 400 64mb
512 Ram
WinXP (this matters for the game, actually).

It helped a HELL of a lot when I got a patch that took out some security the game had. After that, the game worked very well. The game seems to work far better at higher resolutions, which is really weird, but seems to work.

Anyways, I think the game is great. A ton of fun! I''ve been playing my adventurer (couldn''t come up with a good name) for at least 60 hours and I still find the game just as exciting as the night before when I was playing it until 3am.

In my opinion, it is one of the greatest RPGs to ever be released ever. Struggling find the best equipment (boots of blinding speed, for example) is always a delightful challenge, and the amount of side quests available is enormous (like the set of vampire quests. Plain awesome). The main quest is pretty damn long as well, and, in my opinion, more enjoyable than the side quests given to you. I love pretty much everything about the game, except the memory leaks that cause the game to crash to the desktop every couple hours. That, and the amount of bloody freakin'' cliff racers and slaughter fish.

Hello my name is Derek and Im a Morrowind addict.

I really haven
t gotten into the main guest yet and I have been playing the game for over a week now. The size of the world is emmense and there is so much to discover.

I guess Ive been lucky. I havent had a single problem with the game yet other than a few collision problems, but those are easily fixed with a quick command to the console.

*drools* Morrowind... I am still waiting for it to be released here...

by the way, any problems on Windows XP ? XP seems to be a real bitch to run games. I wont even start on all my DOS games that just crash and burn... I have a feeling I am gonna go back to Win98 soon.

I must admit this game is one of the best RPG I ever played to !
I''ve imported my copy from USA and since I got it two weeks ago I''ve spent more than 50 hours playing it ! I''ve just made all the quests of House Hlaalu and some quests for Mages guild, Fighters Guild, Thieves Guild and three quests for the main plot. I don''t know if it will stop one day... But there quite a few bugs like armor changing of category (from medium to heavy), collision bugs that need to be fixed and the journal could have been a lot better (no easy way to know which quest I haven''t completed yet, I must browse through the entire journal which is already 100+ pages). It ran quite well on my PC until I went to Redmountain, Morrowind''s central volcano. There it ran like hell, something like 2-3 fps. My system is:
Athlon TBird 1.4GHz
256 Mo DDR PC2100
GeForce2 MX
WinXP

I think I''m gonna buy some more RAM and a Geforce4 soon

I generally get manageable framerates at 800x600 with shadows turned all the way off, antialiasing all the way off, view distance about 45% on, and AI distance at about 35%.
Boots of Blinding Speed are hard to find? I found the way to get them on total accident after looking for someone for another quest. And I remember my glee the first time I found a nearly full(no helmet or shield) suit of Ebony Armor. I don''t even pick up stuff anymore unless it''s worth more than 5k.
My major gripes are the occasional collision detection problems, the lack of a cheap and easy way to pawn off high cost items(Ebony Maces are my current trade good of choice), the crashes don''t bug me too much yet, and the annoyance that with my BoBS speed on, I somehow end up with a bunch of cliff racers and Alit''s that can actually keep up with me at Speed 260+. I don''t like having to stop every couple of minutes while running around because somehow I"ve got a group of 4 cliff racers on my back.

Yeah, wierd, me to. I have a GF4Ti4400 and it runs faster in 1024 x 768 than it does in 800 by 600. Anyway I run it in 1280x1024 (my monitor can''t do anything higher).

Great game, unfortunately I don''t have time to play it as much as I want . Which means I forget half the stuff that I did when I last played.

Yeah, I remember when that happened to me . It''s moments like that that lead me to comparing Morrowind to a ''single player MMORPG'' . Ebony armor really isn''t that rare, but it''s fun to get a full suit of anything for the first time. It''s too bad that (as far as I know) it is impossible to get a full suit of Daedric armor without killing what''s-his-face (the mage who runs the corprusarium), and he''s a ''good'' character so we''re not meant to kill him. I did manage to find Daedric boots, greaves, a helm, and gloves though (not counting shields and weapons, since they''re very common).

Just a note, lets keep this relatively spoiler-free
As far as the ebony bonus, I wasn''t really that far in the game yet, and I had only recently ''upgraded'' into Orcish armor, so when I found the ebony on the body of a fallen foe, I nearly jumped because of the almost doubling-effect it had on my armor rating.
Currently I''m sorta collecting glass and ebony weapons and armor for their selling value. Gots about 10k in cash right now.

Thing was, I didn''t want to join the thieves guild. Perhaps it would be better if you were only recognised as a thief/murderer in the town you commited the crimes. That way, you could be forced to only enter Balmoral (or the town you did the crime in) for a short period of time to grab some jobs at the guild or similar and not have to stay out of towns all together.

Glass armour looks kind of crap, especially the helmets. My favourite armour is definitely the Orcish armour, it looks so sweet on orcs too! (well, that one''s obvious)

I don''t *wear* glass armor, just keep it around and sell it. I''ve got my Ebony armor, a nice holy shield of something(140+ armor) and a Dreugh helm. Working on finding some Daedric or more Ebony stuff.
I have a set of 5 magical long swords that I rotate in combat as their charge wears up. My prized being a Glass Poisonsword. Yes, it''s lame, but I''m so broke(low Personality and Speechcraft don''t make for good prices on things, and since I don''t know of any merchant that has 1200 in cash anyways....) I don''t have the money to enchant my items up real nice.
