Gameprogramming contest?

Maybe anyone should be interesting creating a gameprogramming contest here on gamedev where all the gamedev users could take part with their games... What do you think of that idea? Anyone interested in taking part of that kind of contest?

Of course, its somewhat limited, more or less requiring you to make a game specifically for this contest (because of the art restriction).

i was thinking of a little more free game programming contest.. i mean, in that one youre practically forced to use spritelib.. maybe something so that everyone could join the contest, only requirement is that they have made a game to take part in the contest.

Holding a contest in which there are no restrictions is simply not feasable. If the contest was just to make a game, there would be such diversity between entries that it would be difficult to judge and unfair to many of the participants. We already have some sponsors lined up for future contests, so we will continue to hold them, with different restrictions each time. If you don''t like the restrictions of a given contest, just wait for the next one.

maybe a contest to create a game in a certain cathegory.
