Its seems everytime I try and install linux the geforce2MX is never supported. I attempted to load it through bash, but It always seems to fail. Anyone know a place other then nvidia for installing gfx drivers? Also, just a question for you linux/win users. Does terminal server work on or to a linux workstation?

My geforce2 MX works without problems in linux, all you have to do is install the nvidia drivers (just follow the instructions in the readme).

for mandrake (I have 7.0 here also)
NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2960.mdk80up.i386.rpm
opengl driver
NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2960.i386.rpm

Im below avg with linux, but I have worked with its style shell before(unix and maya''s MEL).
I
rpm -ivh "file"

There isn't any reason you shouldn't be able to use X with any NVidia card, you just may not get acceleration. I've used X with a TNT2, a Geforce 2 GTS, and a Geforce 3 without any issues. But, for when you do want hardware acceleration, then you need the NVidia drivers. My advice is to compile the drivers from source. It doesn't take long, and it has always worked for me. Download them from nvidia.com, get out of X, then go into the GLX one's directory and type "make" and "make install" as root, then do the same for the kernel one. You may need to call "modprobe NVdriver" in one of your start-up scripts afterwards. If you see the NVidia logo when X starts up, you've done it correctly. Edit: spelling.

I had that problem a few months back. I was using RH 7.1 at
the time and there were some problems with the acelerated
drivers from Nvidia at the time. After I got a few new parts
I installed Mandrake 8.1 and the New Nvidia drivers were no
problem to install. The supplied drivers should work fine for
basic non OpenGL apps though. So if that is a problem you may
have some bigger issue. I think being current is your best
plan seeing as how there have been some major advances in
the vid card xfree market even in the minor distro releses
this past year.

To quickly add something I scrolled up and you mentioned RH 7.0
I would highly recomend getting current as I mentioned before for
2 resons. One is that you are far better off making sure you are
getting Xfree 4.1 or better that did not ship with 7 . Number
2 is that you will be getting the newest drivers from Nvidia.
using the older ones compiled for the older stuff has more
issues. Getting the lattest stuff is easy. I gonna recomend
ebay of all places. There are several companies offering the
lattest distros for 5-10 bucks. I got Mandrake 8.1 for 6 dollars
and change from somthing like wheelchair. They were extreamly
easy to deal with. And it shipped with oodles of cools stuff
my old version didin't. Good luck.

and don't forget to put

load "glx"

in the XF86Config-4 file

The install is not difficult, just follow the readme file on the nvidia site.
