For Educators
Run your class on GameDev.net
A private space for your students — assignments, grading, and discussions without ads or forums exposing them to the open internet.
Assignments & grading
Publish, collect, grade, and export grades to CSV. Supports late deadlines, return-for-revision, and private instructor comments.
Bulk-invite your roster
Paste emails from your SIS export. We accept newlines, commas, or whole CSV rows and dedupe automatically.
Private by default
School teams default to private visibility. Only invited students and co-instructors can see the roster, assignments, or submissions.
Privacy & data posture
- ✓ No ads are shown on any page inside a private school team — students see the instructor surface, not the marketing site.
- ✓ Grades are instructor-visible only when Show grades to students is off (per-course toggle on the SchoolTeamConfig).
- ✓ Minors: GameDev.net does not knowingly collect data from users under 13. We recommend instructors confirm age policies with their institution before inviting K-12 classes.
- ✓ Data export: the class roster and all assignment grades can be downloaded as CSV at any time from the assignments page.
- ✓ Account removal: students can leave a team at any time; instructors can remove students. Deleting a team cascades its assignments and submissions.
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the full details.
Getting started in five minutes
- Create your team. On the create-team page, pick the "School / Class" type and fill in institution, course code, and semester.
-
Verify your institution.
Request domain verification with your
.edu(or equivalent) email address. Verified.eduteams are prioritized in our staff review queue. - Invite your roster. Use the Bulk invite students tool on your team dashboard. Students get an email invite linked to their account (or a signup link if they're new).
- Create your first assignment. Set a due date, optional late deadline, and submission type (URL, text, file-link, or link-to-project). Publish it and it lights up on the student dashboard.
- Grade inline. Click any submission to grade it, add private feedback, or Return for revision. Export all grades as CSV for your LMS.
Verification priority for educational institutions
Teams that complete domain verification with a recognized education TLD — .edu, .ac.*, or .edu.* — are prioritized in the staff verification queue and receive a distinct 🎓 Verified School badge on their team page and in discovery.
This helps students and their parents immediately recognize legitimate coursework — and helps us separate real classes from generic learning groups.
