Hi everyone! My friend and I are looking for a few collaborators to help us develop THE HALF-REMEMBERED, a narrative-driven turn-based RPG with roguelite elements, currently in early pre-production. 1) WHERE WE ARE: We do not have a playable build yet. We currently have a developing GDD, some concept art and original music, narrative/worldbuilding material, and early designs for several core systems. A lot is still being figured out, and we want people who are excited to help shape the game with us. 2) ABOUT THE GAME: The Half-Remembered is built around memory, nostalgia, exploration, experimentation, and discovery. Both the story and design draw from the feeling of growing up with games, places, friendships, and media from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. We want it to feel familiar and half-remembered without simply recreating the past. Systems we're exploring include reactive turn-based combat with timed inputs, adaptive skill trees and randomized augments, imprinted abilities, changing/revisitable zones, shifting progression routes, duo synergy between our protagonists Ark and Bar, and activities like crafting, fishing, bug catching, and bird/beast wrangling. 3) WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: Our biggest needs are a GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER and an ARTIST / TECHNICAL ARTIST, but we're open to other skill sets too. We're both new to game development and expect to take on multiple roles ourselves, so beginners are absolutely welcome. We'd especially love to work with people who enjoy learning across disciplines, teaching what they know, and picking up new skills as the project grows. 4) IMPORTANT: THIS IS UNPAID. This is currently a hobby/volunteer project, and none of us are being paid. We want collaborators to have real creative input rather than simply execute our ideas. We'd also prefer to start small by working together on a mechanic, prototype, environment, or another contained piece of the game before anyone commits long-term. If The Half-Remembered sounds interesting, send me a message with a little about yourself, what you'd like to work on or learn, and what you'd hope to get out of the project. We're happy to share more of the GDD, concept work, music, and other materials once we've connected. Thanks for reading!
