Collaborative Problem Solving in Mixed Reality: A Study on Visual Graph Analysis
This research sheds light on the effectiveness of collaborative problem-solving in mixed reality environments, particularly in visual graph analysis. By comparing ad hoc pairs, individuals, and nominal pairs, the study, which involved 72 participants across two countries, emphasizes the need for developers to consider the complexity of tasks when designing collaborative tools.
The findings suggest that simply implementing 3D graph representations does not guarantee improved collaboration. Instead, developers should focus on the cognitive demands of tasks to enhance user experience. This research is a call to action for designers and programmers to rethink how they approach collaborative environments, ensuring they meet the visual and cognitive needs of users.
