Benoit Richer, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe game director, leaves Ubisoft
Benoit Richer, who was game director on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, has left Ubisoft to co-found Servo Games, a new independent studio in Quebec. He’s taking the game director role there as well, alongside veterans Luc Tremblay, Alex Drouin, and Dany Marcoux.
For developers, the bigger story is the continued leadership turnover on Hexe. Richer is the third major team member to leave the project, after former franchise lead Marc-Alexis Côté and creative director Clint Hocking. Ubisoft has since appointed Jean Guesdon as creative director, while CEO Yves Guillemot says Hexe is now one of several projects being developed at Vantage Studios. That kind of reshuffling usually means schedule risk, shifting creative ownership, and extra pressure on the remaining team to keep production aligned.
