Discord Nitro subscribers to receive "starter edition" of Xbox Game Pass through new partnership
Discord and Xbox are bundling a new Game Pass starter edition into Nitro, keeping Nitro pricing unchanged. The package includes access to more than 50 PC and console games, plus 10 hours of cloud gaming, with names like Stardew Valley, Grounded, Hades, Fallout 4, and Doom Eternal in the mix.
For developers, this is another reminder that subscription platforms are becoming distribution and retention channels, not just storefronts. Discord is also rolling out Nitro Rewards, including 250 Discord Orbs per month, 1.2x Orbs for Quests, and automatic Shop discounts for eligible Game Pass subscribers starting later this month. The broader context is Xbox’s ongoing subscription reset: prices were cut recently, but not enough to undo last October’s 50% hike, and Microsoft says it’s still trying to make Game Pass more flexible and financially sustainable.
“We're launching Nitro Rewards, a brand-new benefits program built with some of the biggest names in gaming.”
