Dive Into What’s Next with Subnautica 2 Experimental

Briefing

Subnautica 2 Experimental is now available to Xbox Insider participants on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, opening an early-access-style preview path for in-development updates. Players need either ownership of Subnautica 2 or an active Game Pass subscription to join, then opt in through the Xbox Insider Hub under Previews > Subnautica 2 Experimental.

For Unknown Worlds, the value here is straightforward: more telemetry, more bug reports, and faster feedback on features before they hit the broader player base. That matters for any live or early-access project, especially one with multiplayer and save-state complexity, because preview branches tend to expose edge cases that internal QA won’t catch at scale.

There are some important constraints. Experimental builds are explicitly less stable, multiplayer is restricted to other Experimental players, and saves are version-specific. Stable and Experimental progress stay separate, so players won’t lose data, but they also can’t move saves between branches.

The setup is designed to keep feedback flowing back into development. If players hit issues, they’re being directed to report problems through the Xbox console’s built-in flow, which should make it easier for the team to reproduce and triage problems as upcoming updates are refined.

“Every issue you report and every piece of feedback you share helps improve future updates.”
