Planet Coaster studio Frontier Developments announces new title based on Disney IP

Briefing

GamesIndustry.biz reports Frontier Developments has entered an agreement with Disney to create a new title based on Disney’s portfolio and IP, with Frontier handling development, funding, and publishing. The studio says the project will draw on its creative management simulation experience, the same lane that powered Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution.

For developers, the notable angle is that Frontier is doubling down on a business model built around high-production-value CMS games rather than broad genre experimentation. The company has already framed CMS as its core strategy, and this Disney project looks like another step toward one major release per year supported by long-tail sales and franchise building.

Frontier CEO Jo Cooke said the collaboration reinforces the studio’s strategy of “developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises,” and described the game as a chance to connect a creative player community with one of the world’s most recognizable brands. Specifics on the setting, platform targets, and release window haven’t been disclosed.

The timing also matters: Frontier recently posted its second-highest annual revenue, up 16% to £104.8 million, with operating profit rising 44% to £19 million. The company credited CMS games for 90% of FY26 revenue, underscoring how central this genre has become to its pipeline and financial outlook.

“We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney.”
