PAX Unplugged Houston to debut in June 2027: "It's a chance to bring PAX back to the PAX South fans that missed us"
GamesIndustry.biz reports ReedPop and Penny Arcade have announced PAX Unplugged Houston, the first Houston edition of the tabletop-focused PAX event, set for June 25-27, 2027 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. For developers and publishers in analogue games, it adds a new major North American showcase with expo space, panels, tournaments, and community meetups.
PAX event manager Sean Gonzalez said the team weighed several major cities, including exhibitor demand and city infrastructure, before settling on Houston. He framed the move as both a practical expansion and a return to the South, noting it gives PAX a chance to reconnect with fans who lost PAX South when that show was cancelled in 2021.
The timing matters because tabletop continues to grow, and PAX is clearly treating the segment as a long-term pillar rather than a one-off experiment. Gonzalez also said the immediate priority is making current PAX events stronger before considering any further expansion, with new feature areas, stages, and programming tracks already being added at East and West.
Tickets and applications for media and content creators are due later this year. For studios, publishers, and indie teams working in tabletop or adjacent transmedia spaces, Houston could become a useful regional anchor for discovery, community building, and direct-to-audience sales.
