Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced debuts in Top 5 for PC and console revenue in July | Newzoo Charts
GamesIndustry.biz reports that July’s PC and console revenue charts were heavily shaped by back-catalogue plays, led by Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. Newzoo placed the remake at No. 2 on PC and No. 4 on console, making it one of the month’s strongest new releases across both platforms.
Newzoo market analyst Mert Şahin framed the result as evidence that familiar IP still has room to grow when it is repackaged well. He pointed to remakes as a way to make older games more accessible to new audiences while giving returning players a meaningful upgrade path.
The broader chart picture backs that up. Straight ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 also surged after shadow-dropping on PS4 and PS5, taking first and sixth on console revenue. Newzoo’s takeaway is that both high-effort remakes and low-friction rereleases can generate meaningful momentum when the brand is strong.
Palworld also re-entered the conversation after leaving early access, landing fifth on PC revenue, while GTA 5 climbed in console MAU as interest in GTA 6 and a new GTA Online heist boosted engagement. For publishers, the practical lesson is clear: lifecycle management, timing, and catalogue strategy can still move the needle without a brand-new IP.
“performance demonstrates the commercial potential that can remain with established titles.”
