"Every major publisher has approached us to review their old Kinect and Wii catalogue" – Nex Playground is spoilt for choice as its international rollout continues
GamesIndustry.biz reports Nex Playground is continuing its international rollout with a German launch planned for later this year, following strong US and UK performance. The family-oriented micro-console will retail at €319 in Germany, while the Play Pass subscription remains $89 annually or $49 quarterly.
Nex Team says the platform has now sold more than 1 million units and is approaching 1 million paying subscribers. The company also says the UK launch is beating forecasts, with TikTok emerging as a meaningful discovery and conversion channel and more than 1,000 creators posting organic user-generated content within two months.
The bigger development for game teams is content strategy: Nex says major publishers have approached it about reviving old Kinect and Wii catalogues, alongside broader IP discussions. That opens a path for motion-control revivals and family-friendly reinterpretations of dormant brands, especially where the hardware’s camera-based input can map cleanly to simple, readable interactions.
Nex is also leaning into curation rather than scale. With more than 60 games already on the service, the company is adding favorites, editorial picks, and camera/history-based recommendations to reduce discovery friction. It says it is also absorbing hardware cost pressure for now, after raising the US price from $249 to $299 earlier this year, while keeping the subscription price unchanged.
