Dive Beneath the Surface in Grounded 2’s Biggest Update Yet: Into the Abyss

Grounded 2 is pushing well beyond its existing survival loop with Into the Abyss, a major update that turns Skunk Pond into a full underwater play space. The new area includes submerged caverns, hidden points of interest, and deeper zones such as the Abyss, alongside expanded surface locations like the Bridge, Gnarly Bark, and Pergola.

For developers, the interesting part is how the update broadens traversal and progression at the same time. Players need new diving gear to stay underwater longer, and the environment introduces underwater combat, new obstacles, and creatures that change how the space is navigated. The amphibious Toe Biter Buggy also adds a land-and-water traversal option, which suggests a more integrated mobility layer than a simple vehicle skin.
