Dune: Awakening Arrives on XBOX With New Ways to Play
XBox Wire says Dune: Awakening has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, the Microsoft Store, Xbox on PC, Game Pass and Cloud Gaming, and it’s not just a straight platform port. The launch is paired with a substantial systems update that pushes the game toward broader accessibility, including a full single-player mode and deeper gameplay customization.
For developers, the big takeaway is how much of the experience has been reworked around player choice. Difficulty presets now sit alongside granular controls for sandstorms, harvesting, XP, building limits and durability, while PvP is now fully optional without locking players out of content or rewards. Funcom has also rebalanced combat, improved enemy AI and animations, and added new weapons plus a reworked rapier.
The endgame has been redesigned too: Landsraad is now a mission-driven framework that supports both multiplayer PvE and solo play, with 20 ranks and new rewards. The planet itself has expanded with seven new mission locations, six Imperial Testing Stations, more contracts and dynamic encounters, while a new Specializations system and Augmentations give character and gear progression more build depth.
On the platform side, Xbox Series X|S gets console-tailored UI and controls, two graphics modes, Play Anywhere shared progression, and support across devices including ROG Xbox Ally. Funcom says a free Polar Cap update is coming later this year, cross-play is planned after launch, and additional film tie-in cosmetics are on the way.
