Dune: Awakening Arrives on XBOX With New Ways to Play
XBox Wire says Dune: Awakening has landed on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Cloud Gaming and Game Pass, alongside a substantial update aimed at broadening how the survival game can be played. The big headline for developers is the new single-player mode, but the patch also folds in deeper customization, story completion, and a long list of systemic changes.
Funcom has moved the game toward a more flexible structure: players can now tune difficulty and many survival settings, avoid PvP entirely, and carry backed-up bases and vehicles across characters. Combat has been reworked with a larger parry window, adjusted stamina, improved AI, and new weapons, while progression now includes Specializations and Augmentations for more build variety.
The endgame has been redesigned around Landsraad missions that work for both multiplayer PvE and solo play, with fewer rare-material bottlenecks and a stronger path to late-game gear without relying on a guild. Arrakis itself has also grown with new mission locations, Imperial Testing Stations, contracts, and dynamic encounters.
On Xbox Series X|S, the game ships with console-tailored UI and controls, plus Performance and Quality modes at dynamic 4K. Funcom says cross-play is coming after launch, and a free Polar Cap update is planned later this year with a new icy biome and survival rules.
