Minecraft Dungeons II’s New Dimension Coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition
XBox Wire says Mojang Studios is introducing The Sift, Minecraft’s first new dimension in more than 14 years. Players will first encounter it in Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29, with a full arrival in Minecraft Java and Bedrock planned for 2027.
The Sift is being positioned as more than a visual variant. Mojang describes shifting tides that can affect the player and nearby entities, hazardous blocks that change traversal, and new biomes such as Meadows and Carapace. The dimension also brings new mobs, both hostile and friendly, plus a distinct color palette and environmental rules.
For game developers, the interesting part is how Mojang is using a spin-off to preview a major systemic addition before it lands in the main game. That gives the studio time to test player expectations, content pacing, and the technical shape of a dimension that has to fit both Java and Bedrock.
Mojang is keeping some areas and access details under wraps for now, but the practical takeaway is clear: Dungeons II is the first look at a feature that could reshape exploration, survival, and creation in Minecraft proper.
