Just because a game is on disc doesnโ€™t mean it will work in the future

Ars Technica details how a disc in the box no longer guarantees a playable game, with DoesItPlay finding that 27% of tested physical releases need downloads to work properly. The problem is worse on current-gen consoles, hitting 34% on PS5 and 50% on Xbox Series X. For devs, itโ€™s a preservation and shipping-policy issue, not just a retail one.
