The Label’s 2020 Indie Showdown contest, presented by Indie MEGABOOTH, is open for submissions. The Indie Showdown contest will give top indie mobile game makers from around the world a chance to win one of three prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000. The three winners will be announced at Indie MEGABOOTH’s MEGAMIXER hosted by The Label during the Game Developers Conference on March 16, 2020 in San Francisco. Select finalists will also have the opportunity to discuss a future publishing deal. Submissions close February 17, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Game submissions will be judged by a panel of notable indie game developers and industry veterans, including Ed McMillen, creator of indie hit games Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac; Tim Garbos, creator of Progress to 100 and What the Golf?; Mike Ouye, General Manager of The Label; and Kelly Wallick, founder of Indie MEGABOOTH and chairman of the Independent Games Festival. Submissions will be judged on craftsmanship – its design, technical, visual, and audio elements – as well as innovation, fun factor, and mobile functionality.

“The number of talented indie developers participating in our Indie Showdown contest each year is absolutely mind blowing” said Mike Ouye, General Manager at The Label. “The originality, creativity, and obvious passion of these developers inspires what we do. We count ourselves lucky to be partnered with many of our former Indie Showdown participants and winners, like John O’Reilly and Tim Garbos, who continue to create new and exciting games for the mobile platform.”

“It's honestly super hard to make games” added Tim Garbos, first-ever winner of the Indie Showdown contest in 2015. “Anything that can help you get a bit more attention is helpful. Having our early prototype of Progress to 100 win the Indie Showdown award gave us a needed extra push of motivation.”

The goal of Indie Showdown is to celebrate games and the independent artists that make them, and to reinforce The Label’s belief that great games, exciting content, and engagement are the keys to success in mobile.
