    Day 4: (Random)
This has been a more or less random day. The toll of staying up till 1am every day and going to work at 4am is killing me! The other team members are putting in just as much time... so needless to say we are feeling the "burn". Despite our weary state we have managed to get some serious stuff in today.

    • Farm system working with growing of crops
    • Saving the state machine between scenes
    • Saving time information between scenes
    • Updated the throwing animation and modified the scale of object being picked up
    • Added texture to the face, as well as some minor color changes for the farmer
    • Added texture to the new soldier model
    • Created the helmet for the soldier model
    • Added in the ability to pick up pigs and other farm animals
    • Created the back end for the transition of holding a Pig and moving from scene to scene.

It is 1am now and I was already in bed and ready to sleep. Sadly I could not rest knowing that I had not posted so I slammed together a quick video of me creating the textures for the farmer face as well as the soldier. Enjoy these small videos:

Even as we speak Bytetroll is working to get the picking up of the piggy perfect. We ran into some duplication errors where when you picked up one pig, it would not delete the previous pig and would create two ( the one you are holding and one near the old one ) This would then create pigs to the infinite! While funny this is less than ideal for what we want so hopefully he will have some luck tonight (this morning) fixing that. I have provided a still screenshot to show off the Soldier texture:

I have another video of the helmet creation process but I am a bit tired to convert it over. For now, this is what I leave you with. We hope to have the playable demo out tomorrow, but this is subject to a few key things. Lastly, if you notice the armor has a G on it for GameDev.net! GO PRIDE!!

Logged in briefly on your livestream last night was my video was uploading.

I'm still a bit confused by the theme (how do you integrate "the toys are alive!" exactly?)

but it undeniably looks good and feel awesome!

Well, that is the part we figured out just last night.

So the pigs/cats/dogs/chickens all look a bit chibi. There is a reason why! The boy was never meant to be a farmer, but because his grandfather had to go away he had to stop his hobby which was Toy Making. There is a cellar that the boy works from and one day after his grandfather left he got upset and threw the toys he had made for his "Farm Set" into the fields. That night a huge rain came down and to his surprise when he went outside he had learned the toys had come alive and were like plants in the ground. He quickly scooped them up and rushed them to the barn. Curious, he tried this again for another night and the same thing happened! It is not till the end of the story that you find out why.

Aha, I'm glad to read that you managed to find a way to bring the theme into your entry! ^_^

(In fact, I believe that what you describe is pretty close to--if more detailed than--what I had in mind when I commented on your "day 1" post.)

Otherwise, it looks as though you're progressing well--keep going! ^_^

Now replace all the farmers with toys - make the crops cotton (for cotton stuffing) and the bad people who steal eat the crops as bad toys stealing the cotton stuffing for themselves tongue.png

or just go with that theme of yours...

:D
