I originally got into programming because of horse racing at the age 12. I fell desperately passionately in love with it and have been programming ever since. I worked full time as a Controls Engineer/Programmer before quitting to pursue creating video games, apps, and websites full time. I blog about my experiences as a programmer and GameDev at www.gildedoctopusstudios.com. I've made a mix of horror and RPG games. Currently I am working on Bramblewood a cheerful sim/RPG game about working for a sorceress. My games are on Itch.io and VoxPop. I also work fulltime as a Senior Unreal Developer for another studio.

How do you tell how good of a programmer you are? Is there a fair and accurate ranking system for programmers? Well today I am going to tell you about something I found to be very helpful in this matter. It is a vastly under rated method for determining your programming skill in a real way. The be…

First off social media is just that social. You are going to encounter all sorts …
#Frostbite is finally at the point where I can realistically set a release date. Honestly it feels so weird. I’ve been working on this game for quite awhile now and it is odd to think that in just a few more months people I’ve never met will be playing this game. I still have quite a bit I need to…
Just to be completely honest I don’t remember ever playing a horror video game but somehow when coming up with ideas for video games the one that was the most doable was a horror game. I have played quite a few horror board games though and the board game shelves in my house have an absurd numbe…
It started with a racehorse breaking it’s leg. In 2006 the race horse Barbaro shattered his leg during the second race of the Triple Crown. I was watching the race with a group of my friends from Pony Club(Think like a way tougher and ballsier version of Scouts but totally focused on horses.) He e…
For today’s post I’ve asked a dear friend of mine to write a post about where she got the inspiration for a recent novel. I tend to get a lot of inspiration for my games from novels so I thought it would be interesting to ask an author where she got her inspiration from.
