Funny thing is that I own like 25-30% of these weapons in real life lol.

Any ideas/requests would be appreciated!

I could be wrong, but do you maybe need some kind of permission to use the real names of the guns in game? I'm curious because Goldeneye 64 had real world weapons with fake names (PP7 = Walther PPK, KF7 Soviet = AK47 etc.), don't know if this was due to legal implications or something to do with not wanting product placement.

Anyway, the badass game keeps on getting bigger and better. Keep up the good work!

Oh yea, these are just the reference names...they are changed in-game.

The guns aren't going to be licensed...they will be named just like in counter-strike, etc.

FN F2000 [ I can actually get one of these for a few grand, FN FS200 civilian version ]


Maybe a SCAR, or a SCAR-n [ Specialized Carbine Assault Rifle ]




OR instead of doing an AK duplicate [ AK74u ]...I can do a MP5SD

Here are some ideas i didn't find in your list and would find rather reaaally nice:

1) Flamethrower
2) Molotov cocktails
3) Can of gas that you can pour around and then light with a match or a zippo or something (a la Postal 2 [evil])

Really seeing forward to playing this game! You've done a wonderful job so far!

Dude, trust me lol...there are people with 100x what I've got rofl. They just aren't open as I am about it. I'm not breaking any laws so fuck it, why not put some pics out there for others eh?

I did think of the molotov cocktails just as I was posting this...I'm considering them...hmmmmmm.

Flamethrower...ehhhh....I dunno lol. Same with the gas...I don't want to open a can of worms with liquid physics, etc...and player abuse.

Thing is that I've structured the weapons into 5 classes [ or ages in any other RTS game ] to prevent abuse, and people buying a grenade launcher 5 seconds into the game and blowing everyone up. I couldn't classify the cocktails in a high weapons class...and if they were cheap they would be easily abused :-/

This is the same reason I don't allow RPGs/Claymores into the game...but allow C4 [ as a Class V weapon ]. I want the player to have to keep watch on a specific point in order to be sucessful with their attack. Claymores/RPGs will ruin the game IMO, same with molotovs, unless I put them in Class 5...which they are clearly not....hope you see what I mean.

RE: D.C. v Heller - No worries, it's locked and loaded lol. I'm assuming you saw all my other toys, the assault rifles, SMGs, etc.

Well, I usually like to keep a mag for each weapon loaded up and ready to roll...so I'm not worried. I just feel bad for the poor SOB who wants to break into here lol.

I HATE YOU [wink] my two pistols are not enough....

Anyways, why not throw in some "experimental" weapons like a laser gun? Or a gun that can affect multiple people clustered together with sound waves that distort their vision and cause them to stagger (kinda like when you're drunk in GTA4). I leave the balance issues up to you :P

Btw can you pimp weapons in this game ? there's this game called Kane & Lynch where you can pimp out your weapons with gold and platinum.

Also if I were making a similar game I would focus on making a set of base weapons and a large array of parts which people can buy to customize each type of weapon (sights, barrels, clips) including custom paint jobs, etc. Players are always attracted to games where you can have a little bit of customization (instead of having a large array of fixed "realistic" weapons).

It would be really funny/cool for example to see a player with a pink rifle with some custom patterns. Wouldn't be too difficult to add too.

Yea, customizable guns would be very cool, but still...that's something that needs to be factored in from the start.

The ganme has enough unique features etc. and with 50 different guns I think it'll be fine.

I'm really just trying to get it out the door, stuff like that screams feature creep ( though it would be badass and I'll for sure add it into the next one, if I ever finish this game lol )

on the other hand you have things that are common enough and easy enough to obtain that they make more sense to be given as option: brass knuckles, or even a broken bottle.

On the RPG being 'game breaking' i figure it could be rather easily curbed by making them one-shot -- that makes it just a fancy and very expensive bigger grenade, with better chance to land it where you want it. Hardly that much more useful than regular grenade launcher or vulcan minigun that you already have included?

Just make realistic Molotov's, and they won't break the game. Besides, you already have a really cool heat blur effect :P

Think about it for a second: in a fight, would you prefer having some gas-filled bottles with burning rags, or a pistol? Or an assault rifle!

Just scale the damage down in line with the other weapons (or maybe a bit less) and make them more difficult to aim. If you think about it, the bottles are not likely to break until they hit the ground, a car, or some other hard object (i.e. no "direct" hits to players).

Thinking about it, you could make them a very efficient weapon against vehicles, but mediocre against people on foot. I think as such they would balance the game rather than break it (assuming vehicles are practically free, like in GTA).
