Hello hello! It's your boy again! It's time for this week's Weekly Update! I have to say that this week there's not a whole lot of new content. So this update won't be very long. The focus was on optimizing and bug fixing. I was, however, able to add another new type of firearm.

So let's get started!

New Weapon

The last firearm to be added (at least for now) is the iconic AK-47. It's a versatile assault rifle that was prolifically used in the soviet union and is still used by a handful of countries.

AK-47

In real life, this rifle can be made fully automatic with a flick of a switch. For simplicity's sake, in this game, the AK-47 is semi-automatic instead.

It's more powerful than the standard 9mm gun. It's also quite a bit more precise and also has a better effective range.

There's even an aiming crosshair that is quite useful while alt-aiming.

Minor Updates

  • Started to optimize many UI elements to gain some frames
    • Added a bit more serialization to GUI elements
  • Fixed a bug where in some jungle challenges players would fall through circular bridges hanged from trees
  • Optimized most weapon by creating weapon prefabs
  • Change the hearing range of mall alarms
  • Fixed a bug where pressure sensitive objects (like switches) would constantly toggle on and off when activated by the player

Next Week

So for next week, the idea is to document and work on this month's Monthly Build (which will be published today) feedback. I also need to continue optimizing UIs. I discovered that 90% of my slowdowns are due to poorly optimized UIs elements. To gain more frames, I need to put in some elbow grease and optimize them.

I've already started, but it's not over yet!

And that's about it! See you next week!
