Good Evening doods,

Been a while since the last entry in my 88x DevBlog, my apologies. In the latter half of 2020, I'd decided to finally to step up to the task & stop waiting around for this magical team I wanted for years to show up. With everyone returning to school, the frustrations of running into the same wall over & over had started to take a toll. The drive to create 88x had never left but had dwindled over time until the spark of finally leading my own projects had ignited a battery in me.

This newfound energy had put me on an ambitious sprint where I began to devour tutorials like a fat kid in a candy store. My mind swelling with new concepts, directions & possibilities. It was the right amount of ‘Whelming’. With this aim, I knew I had to really sharpen my skills & not stupidly dive into a passion project that outweighed my abilities. Still, 88x remained tempting & I had grown tired of working on projects that were either disappointing or shelved. With that I refused to let 88x fall into the abyss, so I decided to work on a mobile port of my platformer SUPER LORD OF CHEESEBURGERS. With the project already formed & assets already produced, this would allow enough time to learn new scripting skills, master them & ready me for the dive into 88x.

jump puzzles are kinda cool

Since going from an Turn Based RPG to a Zelda-like to a Rogue-lite, 88x has mutated more overtime than a pain in the ass virus that refuses to go away. Yet, I'm still not overwhelmed with 88x nor do I think it has too much. That's because a new vision hit me for the entire 88x experience. A format that will allow me to produce the best material from this amazing world & its eccentric bizarre characters. For weeks now while producing the SUPER LORD OF CHEESEBURGERS mobile port, I've been allocating 88x into this beautiful database, while sticking toward a realistic solid vision. It's been great because in the past, like the lot of you, I've been a delusional idea guy where my ambitious desire outweighed my skills. So it was comforting to look at the possibilities & limit yet exploit the most entertaining pieces in mind.

It's been two years of solid worldbuilding, producing the interesting nooks & crannies of 88x's world. Extremely eagared to develop the Cast of Characters & structure their dynamics, the degrees of separation between them & the narrative threads that seam the world together. It's been tough nailing conflict & the exact events to trigger everything, but its been fun zoning in on the exact lore & history for the world at play. Though it can be a bit nerve-wrecking to juggle the plethora of spreadsheets, but its cool right…right?

worldbuilding can have your mind running in circles

From Magic Elements to Enemy Behavior, it's truly exciting on the future holds & implementing everything after sitting on so much for so long (..also will feel good to think ‘normally’ again..whatever that is)
