Architecture of Fantasy II - Scaffolds & Skeletons (Devblog #4...well at least I think it is)
Good Evening,
Many changes, many good things & many bad. Overall, the learning experience never stops. All around its been a chill year, especially since finding new love, & making amazing progress with the 88x Prototype
Got damn the beginning of this year was stacked with games, including the middle….this was a great year for games. Totally forgot Pizza Tower came out this year! It seems like forever ago. Seriously feels like Pizza Tower came out last year. What a marvelous game right? We need more Wario-likes. A lot of Indie RPGs came out this year that deserve more flowers, there was some incredible stuff to play this year. Many beautiful projects that have been very influential. What was great about this year was that I was able to come back around to 88x, a demo I had put off for some time. Finally as sunlight has broken thru, a glimmer of hope shined in the distance.

A brief recap of 88x - a daydream that I've been trying to achieve since I took game development seriously back in ‘09. Isn’t crazy that no matter how much we hear “Hey fool work on smaller projects before that MMORPG that you're never going to finish” we still work on our passion projects. What's funnier is knowing better not to work on a hefty project, doing so while trying to juggle other projects in the process; the sadism is glorious.

88x had started as a Turn Based RPG, going thru many face lifts. Do you ever think back at the void of time you dedicated toward a genre/project you knew would be kinda of a waste of time but didn't because some sort of sunk cost fallacy mixed with naive passion? With all that being said, building a RPG is tough. The progress is beautiful but slow & keeping track of databases is a hassle. Though there was something great about the characters & world of the 88x, & the world to expand on. There was always something there at the core.

So going back to the drawing board, I seen something colorful, relatable & chill. Beginning with a small space, I mapped out the core of the mechanics, goals & objectives, gathering some of favorite mechanics & embarked fleshing out a world with a deep pool to delve into full of adventure & exploration.
