I''m getting increasingly frustrated by pop-up ads and windows appearing when I''m on the internet. I''ve heard of some ad-blocking programs, but I want some opinions from other people. What do you recommend? Does it work? Does it work well? Grant Palin

I reccommend "Pop Up Stopper" by PanicWare. Its a little thing that sits in your system tray, and you can double click it on and off. Additionally, when its on, you can hit control and click on a link thats a known pop up to let you just open that one link if its on.

Just get mozilla. It allows you to turn off unrequested pop-up windows -something other browsers should have done a long time ago.

IE can do that to. (Although you have to go through several menus =( )

You could try JunkBuster''s Internet Junkbuster Proxy.

It is a little .exe proxy that reads sites to block from a text file. Configuration is simple, but powerful.

It is open source (GPL''d) and runs under several operating systems (Windows, Unix, Mac OS X, and maybe more).

You''ll have to read configuration files to setup, but I was very pleased with it, primarily because it is small and barebones!

Where is the option in IE? I hate those pop ups...

I think: Tools -> Internet Options -> click on the advanced tab, and uncheck "enable transitions." Might work. What WILL work is putting your privacy settings to High, or even more drastically disabling java-script. I used to do that to go browse sites with high pop up content. =D It''s really better to get something like pop-up stopper because all that''s a pain in the butt.
