My cat is staring at me again. Every day she finds a spot somewhere in my house and just lies there without moving. Sometimes she sleeps. Sometimes she gets up to eat something and then goes back to her hidey-hole. It''s weird how my cat can just sit there and do absolutely nothing the whole damn day. Doesn''t she ever get bored? Is my cat the only one that doesn''t ever do anything? What do cats think about all day? PouyaCat, perhaps you could enlighten us all. I have no idea why I posted this. I''m bored, so sue me.

my cat does nothing too! but really i mean, what are they supposed to do? read books? go to work? i guess they could kill mice for food, but that would make them wild and not domestic and we wouldnt like them anymore because theyw ould be scrawny and mean, not cute and fat

Well, lets just say we got enlightened minds...

Just like the really rich and powerfull people: we ain''t have to do shit to survive. So we can do nothing. And doing nothing is great.

You''d better not say that to my cat''s face. She''d kick your ass.

Cats rule. I think they''re on top of the evolutionary ladder. I mean really, they''ve reached a point where they can do nothing all day long. Who wouldn''t want that?

My cat will perch herself in random locations all over the house, but when we start to get tired, that''s when she starts her running around rampage..jumping around, playing floor hockey with anything we happened to drop during the day..

Does anyone''s cat ever walk to the edge of a room, get into "stalk" position, then suddenly dash across the room and slow down into the next? My cat randomly comes out of nowhere all the time and sprints into a room, then stops and just sits there. Then 5 minutes later she''ll do it again.

I think you people just lucked out, and have abnormally stupid cats. My cats don't sit and blankly stare at a wall all day, like a bunch of retards. They usually sleep, but when they're not sleeping, they're either lounging outside, walking around the yard, or playing with each other -- like normal animals.

Edit: Are you sure you guys aren't accidentally replacing your cat's water with gasoline or some other clear poisonous liquid?

Cats sleep or rest for 18 hours out of the day.

It stems all the way back to the sarengeti, where they would lay in the shade most of the day to escape the heat.

The more you sleep, the less energy you use, the less you have to eat, the less you have to drink.

It''s just an evolutionary step that never went away.

My cat is indoor only. I hate outdoor cats.

Heh. I''d never get a chance to. Whenever I approach, she stands up and coldly walks away to find another spot. She''s in a bad mood this week.

But that''s my unfriendly cat. The nice one runs around a lot and hates to be left alone. She always takes my computer chair when I''m not looking. She''s so persistent that I''ve given up on pushing her off, now when I need to use the computer I just shove her over enough to make room. She''s extremely dangerous to play with; when she gets excited she forgets to retract her claws when she jumps you. It hurts like hell.

So I guess not ALL cats enjoy boredom. Just most of them

Which is why indoor cats are so much better.. Declaw the front paws, and the back ones you rarely have to worry about.

My cat really likes annoying my dads girlfriend. Whenever she's there the cat will go into the bedroom at about 5:00 in the morning, sit in the doorway and start hownling. If that doesn't get their attention she goes up and walks across their faces untill my dad literally throws her out of the room. When she's off on a business trip, the cat will only come in after 7:00. Hehehe
